Venezuela, Venezuela pics

[edit]

Hi Alex,

Thanks for your work on Venezuela. Do you know what copyright those pictures are under? (I didn't check all of them, but at least the tree one is untagged.) Could you tag them? It's pretty important, because untagged or unfree images are liable to get deleted. If you don't have permission to post them, you may consider writing the photographers and asking for permission. Thanks again, DanKeshet 03:16, May 17, 2005 (UTC)

SACN template

[edit]

Thanks for your good work on Venezuela and related articles. I removed the SACN template that you added. It has been decided that templates for international organizations, such as SACN, should not go at the bottom of articles. Only organizations that have extensive governmental powers, such as the EU and CARICOM, belong. (See Wikipedia:Wikiproject countries) While SACN has aspirations of being such an organization it is not one yet. Since today it is mainly concerned with trade and economics it has been decided that the SACN template belongs on the "economy of..." articles. The template is thus already on the Economy of Venezuela page, and the economy pages for each other member state. - SimonP 21:31, Jun 5, 2005 (UTC)

alex, why did you change the infobox template to raw tabla data in the Caracasarticle???

Hello. I notice that you added {{venezuela-bio-stub}} to Category:People stubs. Please note that the top of the category contained the following notice:

Stub-sorting Wikiproject

This category is maintained by WikiProject Stub sorting. If you wish to add a subcategory to it, please propose it here prior to creating the category or template.

I have therefore removed it and added it to the newly discovered stubs page. --TheParanoidOne 10:51, 6 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Copyrighted image uploaded, Image:Map of Venezuela.gif

[edit]

You naturally know that uploading of copyrighted images to WP is not allowed. Stating: A map of Venezuela released to Public Domain. Source: http://www.discovervenezuela.com/map.cfm and surely You noticed that on that page it clearly states: DiscoverVenezuela © 2001 , so don't make false claims and be sure that the picture You upload clearly is suitable for WP. Better uploads in the future, feydey 20:29, 2 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Political parties in Venezuela

[edit]

Hello, there. If you have a moment, could you take a look at List of political parties in Venezuela -- specifically, which of those should be considered "major". Someone just replaced MAS with PJ (when there was only a list of three); that didn't seem fair, so I put it back and upgraded COPEI and Proyecto Venezuela, too. Sorry, yours was the first name I thought of when I had to think of a Venezuelan editor. Thanks, –Hajor 00:05, 22 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

This one Image:Saint Etienne 01.jpg has no info on license. Is it OK, or should it be deleted? Currently I can not reach the source site, but if it was just lifted off a netmagazines site I suppose it is not OK. / Habj 05:27, 23 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading Image:100 bolivares VEB obverse.gif. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law. We need you to specify two things on the image description page:

  • The copyright holder, and
  • The copyright status

The copyright holder is usually the creator. If the creator was paid to make this image, then their employer may be the copyright holder. If several people collaborated, then there may be more than one copyright holder. If you created this image, then you are the copyright holder.

Because of the large number of images on Wikipedia, we've sorted them using image copyright tags. Just find the right tag corresponding to the copyright status of this image, and paste it onto the image description page like this: {{TAGHERE}}.

There are 3 basic ways to licence an image on Wikipedia:

  • The copyright holder can also release their work into the public domain. See here for examples.
  • Images from certain sources are automatically released into the public domain. This is true for the United States, where the Wikimedia servers are located. (See here for images from the government of the USA and here for other governments.) However, not all governments release their work into the public domain. One exception is the UK (see here for images from the UK government). Non-free licence governments are listed here.
  • Also, in some cases, an image is copyrighted but allowed on Wikipedia because of fair use. To see a) if this image qualifies, and b) if so, how to tag it, see Wikipedia:Fair use.

For more information, see Wikipedia:Image copyright tags. Please remember that untagged images are likely to be deleted.

If you have uploaded other images without including copyright tags, please go back and tag them. Also, please tag all images that you upload in the future.

If you have any questions, just leave a message on my talk page. Thanks again. --Nooby god 23:59, 7 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading Image:Yaracuy coa.gif. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. Campaign Box

[edit]

In June 2005, you started a template Template:Campaignbox_''Campaña_Admirable'' to organize a series of battles. Actually since the template remains in-complete and links to nothing, I cannot be sure of the intent. If you wish, join the discussion at Wikipedia:WikiProject_Military_history. Also note the generic templete Template:Campaign makes it easier to organize and format the list. Wendell 03:59, 26 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading Image:Massive Attack.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use {{GFDL}} to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media qualifies as fair use, please read fair use, and then use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Association

[edit]

Dear Alex: Hi. I wanted to ask you about a possible Hispanic wikipedians association here on the English wikipedia. The purpose would be to trade assignments with members of other Hispanic countries, so that they would write about a topic pertaining to our country while we write about a topic pertaining to theirs. Like a trade. We would benefit a lot by learning about our history as a whole and having other Latinos learn about our own countries at the same time.

That way also, we would promote unity between our paises hermanos. We could become an example to Hispanics around the world. Unfortunately, some Hispanics do believe we are not brothers, and we can begin with our example to prove them wrong.

What do you think, would you be interested in joining such an association?

Thanks and God bless you!

Your hermano in raza, Antonio Viva Venezuela Martin

Thanks for uploading Image:PuenteGeneralRafaelUrdaneta.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

States of Venezuela

[edit]

Could I ask why you keep moving the position of the map included in the article States of Venezuela? By putting the image underneath the infobox you're creating a lot of pointless white space, and to make matters worse the map overwrites the table of states in Firefox. Probably the latter problem could be fixed by using "clear" in the code, but that would then mean even more white space!

There is absolutely nothing wrong with where I put the map, so why do you insist on moving it unnecessarily and to the detriment of the article?!

States table for Admin Division section of Venezuela

[edit]

Hey, look, I just want to comment a few things. First I appreciate all of the work that you have done. However, sometimes changes occur that help improve the sites in Wikipedia. That is why I changed the table on the Venezuela page, but you chose to change it back. I have corrected this, and I ask that you leave the table as it stands. The table code that you use is 'hard code' (using numbers instead of "#" or "

  • ", etc), and takes up a LOT of space, rather than the compact version that I put in. We, as Wikipedians, are supposed to make the articles informative, legible, and clean - neat enough for all users to see. So please don't take offense to my changes, and please don't be stubborn and change it back. Thank you. Rarelibra 14:49, 26 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

    Warning sign
    This media may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:G3logo.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently specifies that the image can be used under a fair use license. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. —Bkell (talk) 10:21, 28 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

    Venezuelan foreign relations

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Billete 1000 bolívares anverso nuevo.jpg

    [edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Billete 1000 bolívares anverso nuevo.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 19:11, 13 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Andrés Eloy Blanco.jpg

    [edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Andrés Eloy Blanco.jpg. You've indicated that the image meets Wikipedia's criteria for non-free content, but there is no explanation of why it meets those criteria. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. If you have any questions, please post them at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions.

Thank you for your cooperation. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI (talk) 03:41, 21 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Image permission problem with Image:Tequeños con guasacaca.jpg

    Image Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading Image:Tequeños con guasacaca.jpg, which you've sourced to http://www.caracasarepabar.com/menu_gal_side_teque.html (linked to via Internet Archive). I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the image (or other media file) agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

    • make a note permitting reuse under the GFDL or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
    • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the image to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the image has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the image's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Images lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sherool (talk) 21:04, 28 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

    Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Latin American 10,000 Challenge invite

    [edit]

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Latin America/The 10,000 Challenge ‎ has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like Brazil, Mexico, Peru and Argentina etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. At some stage we hope to run some contests to benefit Latin American content, a destubathon perhaps, aimed at reducing the stub count would be a good place to start, based on the current Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon. If you would like to see this happening for Latin America, and see potential in this attracting more interest and editors for the country/countries you work on please sign up and being contributing to the challenge! This is a way we can target every country of Latin America, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant!♦ --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 00:24, 27 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
