Wikipedia:Requests for page protection

Page semi-protected
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here.

Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection)

After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:Protectedpages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.

Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level

Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

Current requests for increase in protection level

Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level

Place requests for new or upgrading pending changes, semi-protection, full protection, move protection, create protection, template editor protection, or upload protection at the BOTTOM of this section. Check the archive of fulfilled and denied requests or, failing that, the page history if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Reason: content removal Magherbin (talk) 08:47, 30 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Declined – Content dispute. Please use the article's talk page or other forms of dispute resolution. Daniel Quinlan (talk) 14:46, 30 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: This article has faced ongoing disruptions by IP users for several months. They repeatedly damage the infobox template and add duplicate parameters. Since there are no significant daily updates needed for this person's life, using edit requests would be a more efficient solution for everyone involved. Permanent extended-confirmed protection Contentious topic, fits well under WP:CT/HORN. Back and forth edit warring stretching back to multiple months. Previous temporary extended-confirmed protections have expired and edit warring has resumed since then. Ecrusized (talk) 14:40, 30 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Ecrusized, YOU started this edit war, and you are not discussing with ANYONE to resolve it. I don't know how else i can tell you to come up with conensus with me, @Replayerr, or anyone else, I have went on your talk page to try to discuss this with you, Please answer!!! Something higher than Extended confirmed protection but not full protection: Vandalism from extended-confirmed user. SNUGGUMS (talk / edits) 16:06, 30 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. Daniel Quinlan (talk) 16:14, 30 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: High level Ip vandalism and many unsourced edits. Sush150 (talk) 16:23, 30 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Indefinite extended confirmed protection: Per WP:CT/A-I. Pachu Kannan (talk) 16:29, 30 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent addition of unsourced or poorly sourced content – IP editors repeatedly adding unsourced names of competitors to articles. Show broadcasts in about a week so the list will be known by then, but it's pure guesswork and speculation without any sources supporting. Ravensfire (talk) 17:09, 30 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: IP vandalism on a contentious redirect. Yes I am a nerd -XCBRO172 (How could you tell?) 17:17, 30 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    Per WP:PIA. Yes I am a nerd -XCBRO172 (How could you tell?) 17:19, 30 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
    Extended confirmed protected indefinitely. Pickersgill-Cunliffe (talk) 17:56, 30 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary extended confirmed protection: Persistent vandalism – User:Mosalman786 (semi-confirmed user) has been adding spam links to external sites. Look like an account used only for link-spamming. Vestrian24Bio (TALK) 17:31, 30 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing – Various IPs keep trying to replace the easy to read list of notable people with difficult to read paragraphs of notable people. Skywatcher68 (talk) 17:46, 30 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    Semi-protection: Persistent vandalism. Filmssssssssssss (talk) 17:54, 30 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Persistent vandalism due to recent controversy on Twitter. ViviGayming (talk) 18:11, 30 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    Semi-protection: Persistent vandalism. Filmssssssssssss (talk) 18:18, 30 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Current requests for reduction in protection level

Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin at their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.

    • To find out the username of the admin who protected the page click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page" which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
    • Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
    • Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
    • If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected please use the section below.

Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Semi-protection: A few months have passed, and this article could benefit from allowing newer users to improve it. Disruption from semi-confirmed users is low-risk at this point. DarmaniLink (talk) 18:00, 30 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Not unprotected. As an Arbitration Enforcement action, this cannot be unprotected via a request here. See WP:AE for information on how to appeal. Daniel Quinlan (talk) 18:06, 30 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: The page was protected due to valid concerns on sockpuppetry. However, Articles for Creation by its very nature is designed for "any editor" to request articles (and by extension, redirects). I think there should be a warning on watching for sock behavior, but that's beyond the scope of this decrease request. @NinjaRobotPirate: added the page protection just a few hours ago as of writing this. LR.127 (talk) 18:16, 30 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Not unprotected. The protection is short-term, expiring tomorrow. Short term semiprotection is appropriate to prevent disruption. We occasionally protect article talk pages for the same reason, which are also intended for "any editor". ~Anachronist (talk) 18:30, 30 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Current requests for edits to a protected page

Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.

    • Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among {{Edit protected}}, {{Edit template-protected}}, {{Edit extended-protected}}, or {{Edit semi-protected}} to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed.
    • Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Wikipedia:Suggestions for COI compliance), the {{Edit COI}} template should be used.
    • Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Wikipedia:Requested moves, not here.
    • If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
    • This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.

Please make sense out of this 2601:40D:8203:C860:81F7:B12A:72F3:C234 (talk) 17:57, 30 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Declined I don't know what you're looking for here but it certainly isn't an edit request. Pickersgill-Cunliffe (talk) 18:02, 30 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
